Protecting the Executive While
in Transit By: Jerry T. Yoakum
Whether in
a high-risk or low-risk environment, protection of executives
and company personnel while in transit is an increasing
challenge to the security and safety professional. Kidnap,
Workplace Violence, Murder (assassination), and acts of
terrorism, especially targeting high profile individuals, are
all real threats that must be taken into consideration by the
executive and those responsible for his or her safety.
With today's market driven economy, nothing could
potentially disrupt or destabilize a corporation's stock value
more than the effective removal of those persons responsible
for the running of the organization. Today's CEOs and other
top ranking executives are prime targets of opportunity for
those individuals or groups who are looking for opportunities
to disrupt the company's or individual's regular operations.
In addition to those who fill the corporate
boardrooms, political leaders, celebrities, and other
high-profile persons are also at risk due to the nature of
their position or notoriety. In several parts of the world
Kidnap and Ransom has become a cottage industry with most
attacks planned while the victim is in transit. A look back at
several case studies and the history of kidnap, extortion,
assassination, and acts of terrorism against executives and
other high profile individuals proves this to be true. In some
studies the statistics have shown that as many as 70 to 80
percent of all attacks have taken place while the intended
target was in transit.
In this article, I will discuss
some of the reasons why such a large number of attacks take
place while the executive or high profile person is in
transit. And, I will discuss a variety of techniques and
habits that can be utilized by the executive and/or those
responsible for his protection to minimize these risks.

Tony
Scotti and the Tony Scotti Training Network are renown for
it's international go anywhere-training programs. Since day
one, where ever a customer wanted training Tony Scotti and the

heaven on earth, some were hell, we never said no, just when
and where.
Since the grand opening of the third US
location for the Scotti Network, located in Las Vegas, Nevada,
we have begun another phase of mobile training. Due to US
customer demand and the true benefit of properly set up
training vehicles, Crossroads Training and the Tony Scotti
Network have acquired and set up a true Mobile Training Unit
