Job Description: "Security
Driver"
 By: Tony Scotti
Tony
Scotti regularly addresses this issue with
client organizations who send protection drivers
through our security driver-training program --
Tony has been at this for 30 years, so he has
some definitive views to offer. One major
concern is that a number of corporations take an
ordinary chauffeur and designate him or her as a
"security driver" to take advantage of IRS codes
that allow companies to write off certain
executive security expenses. Full Article |
The Executive Vehicle: "Ride vs.
Handling"
 By: Jerry Yoakum
Many
times, when the selection of an executive
vehicle is made, there is little consideration
given to the vehicles handling capability. When
making the choice of the executive vehicle the
deciding factors are most likely based on look,
comfort, environment, and availability. While
these criteria are valid considerations, there
is another feature that should be considered,
"handling." This article discusses vehicle
handling and looks at the handling capability of
some of the most popular vehicles being used to
transport today's executive. Full Article

Tires - The most important...And
forgotten component on the vehicle
 From a vehicle
handling standpoint, the tire is the most
Important component on any vehicle. The "Tire"
controls all functions. The tire,or more
precisely tire pressure, represents the number
one maintenance problem found on vehicles today.
This is of especially important for drivers of
SUV's whose handling is deeply impacted by
insufficient tire pressure. We have found a
handy web site that explains the markings on a
tire and provides important tire information
that every driver should know. Tire Information

Advanced Security Driver/Vehicle
Seminar
 Tony Scotti Associates
(TSA) has developed a two-day Advanced Security
Driver/Vehicle seminar.
The need for the
seminar is dictated by the changes we face as
providers of secure transportation. We are
facing a different enemy - not new - different.
Although there are basic fundamental that still
apply, tactics are changing - vehicles are
changing - and the environments we drive through
are changing.
The seminar is based on
the theory that in order to provide safe and
secure transportation - whether it be a person -
people - or things, requires managing and
controlling The Driver - The Vehicle - and the
Environment they drive through. For 30 years we
have called this the "Security Triangle", and
the Security Triangle is exactly what the
seminar is all about.
THE DRIVER The
role of the security driver has taken on a new
meaning. Security driving is no longer just the
act of driving. It has as much to do with
managing - and with the tactics and vehicles
used in today's environment - you need to be a
good as a manager (if not better) than you are a
driver.
THE VEHICLE The types of
vehicles used for security purposes have changed
radically, everything form Mercedes Benz - to
SUV's, and in some areas of the world pick up
trucks, are being used to supply security and
for executive transportation.
THE
ENVIRONMENT The environment the driver and
vehicle move through range from New York traffic
to horrific journey through roadside bomb laden
streets, in some scenarios controlling the
environment is difficult, but it still needs to
be managed. It is at times the most important
aspect of the triangle.
